In-Game Chat Has Arrived on Backgammon Cash

Today we are launching one of the features that brings Backgammon Cash closer to the experience of playing across a real board: in-game chat.

Backgammon has always been a social game. For thousands of years, it has been played in cafes, living rooms, and clubs, accompanied by conversation, reactions, and the occasional bit of friendly trash talk. That back-and-forth between opponents is a huge part of why the game has remained so popular and engaging across cultures and generations. It was something our digital experience was missing, and now it's here.

Backgammon brings out real emotion. The thrill of rolling exactly what you needed, the frustration of watching your opponent hit a miracle double, the satisfaction of a perfectly timed cube. In-game chat gives you an outlet for all of it. Now you can react to the game in real time and connect with the person on the other side of the board.

How it Works

Using chat is simple. During any match, tap the "Chat" button located under your profile picture to open the chat menu. From there, tap any of the pre-selected messages to instantly send it to your opponent. To keep the experience friendly and prevent spam, there is a cooldown between messages.

We've started with a curated set of messages covering the most common reactions and moments in a game, from celebrating a good roll to congratulating a well-played match. This is just the beginning. We are actively listening to player feedback, so if there are phrases you would like to see added, let us know.

We built this feature because we believe backgammon is best when it feels social and alive, not just a series of moves on a screen. We hope it makes your matches more fun, more personal, and a little more competitive.
