Frequently Asked Questions
Backgammon is a classic board game for two players where the objective is to move all 15 of your checkers around the board and bear them off before your opponent does the same. Players take turns rolling two dice and moving their checkers according to the numbers rolled. Checkers move in opposite directions around the board, and you can hit your opponent's single checkers (blots) to send them to the bar, where they must re-enter before continuing play. The game combines strategy with a hint of chance, making it an exciting skill-based competition perfect for wagering.
The impact of gammon and backgammon wins depends on your game mode:
Points matches: A gammon (winning when your opponent hasn't borne off any checkers) or backgammon (winning when your opponent still has checkers in your home board or on the bar) will affect the number of points awarded in the match, following traditional backgammon scoring rules. Gammon is 1 point extra, Backgammon is 2 points extra.
Cash games (single point matches): On Backgammon Cash, gammon and backgammon wins do not affect the amount of money won or lost. You'll receive the standard payout regardless of the margin of victory, keeping cash games simple and straightforward.
The doubling cube adds an exciting strategic element to your matches whether you are playing backgammon for real money or virtual currency (Gold):
Points matches: The doubling cube affects the number of points won in the match. When you offer a double, your opponent can either accept (doubling the points at stake) or decline (conceding the current point value).
Cash games: The doubling cube increases the actual money wagered and won during the game. However, there are limits to how much can be doubled based on the available funds in each player's account. This ensures both players have sufficient balance to cover potential doubled stakes while maintaining the strategic excitement of cube play.
Connection issues are handled consistently to maintain fair play. If any player loses their internet connection during a match, the game timer will continue to run normally without pausing. The disconnected player must reconnect and make their move before their timer expires. If they cannot reconnect in time, they will automatically lose the game. This policy ensures matches proceed smoothly and prevents players from using disconnections as a stalling tactic.
